16 Weeks to Ironman

Oh man, 16 weeks, this is getting serious!

This week I am moving out of "Prep" and into "Base 1" training. These are my week's goals according to my training plan:
How is your general nutrition and body composition? Think of an extra 20 pounds on your frame as doing your IM race carrying a backpack with 2 bowling balls inside. It's easy to make adjustments this early…just don't wait until a month before racing..
That means I need to start watching what I eat more carefully and maybe try to loose a little weight. Not 20 lbs, though. Maybe 5. My plan also says:
Include with your training log a 1-10 scale for daily nutrition with 1 being a weekend in Vegas and a 10 being a nutritional angel. Rank yourself and monitor areas to improve. Most of us know what is good and bad eating so self seed yourself on this one.
So, watch for that ranking each day.

I will be doing some of my workouts on "terrain which simulates race day." I will also be increasing hours and adding in hills on the bike and run. I also need to work on my flexibility and my mental health.

No biggie, right?

  3. One day at a time, that's all you can do. Eaiser when you take it bit by bit, just like the race. You'll be prepared sweetie.

  4. Thank you so much for the confidence boost guys! It always helps to know there someone there behind you!

Lori, I don't know why your email wouldn't be working anymore. Have you looked at your preferences for blogger? There are so many setting and things, I know it's hard to find the right place to look.

Go to the settings tab, then under that there's a link for comments. Click on that and look down at moderation to see if that's still turned on, and make sure your email address is correct. If that doesn't work, I don't know what to tell ya. Good luck.

  5. Wow Colleen, I'm so impressed that you are able to train for a marathon with 3 small children. I was the kind of person in high school who only pretended to run while the teacher was watching and then I would walk the rest of the time - so I'm totally impressed by people who run marathons, LOL.

  6. Angie,

The crazy thing is that that's exactly the kind of person I was in high school too! I hated running. HATED it! I still think it's weird that I like it now.
