Flying in the Water

My little sister had her open-heart surgery this morning, and as far as I know, everything went well. Her heart is working well. This is a relief, I was thinking about her all morning.

I headed in to the gym for what I thought would be a quick workout, but it ended up taking me 2 hours to pick the kids up from the daycare. It was a really good workout. Here's what I did:
Swim: speed day
wu: 200 swim, 200kick, 200pull, 200 swim
main: 16 x 100, descend 1-4, 5-8, 9-12, 13-16
cd: 2 x 50 easy
I started out doing my first 4 100s at 2:00. This was pretty easy, and I actually did some of them at closer to 1:50, so for the next one I shot for 1:50. For the next one, I did 1:45 which is about my normal fast 100. Then the next one was 1:40! The first one I did was just barley over 1:40. I rested, then started out to try again. While I was swimming, I started saying to myself, "What was I thinking? I can't do that again!"

"Yes I can!" I argued with myself, and I pushed it really hard. I got to the end and the clock said 1:35! I thought, "Holy cow!" as I collapsed on the deck. I couldn't believe I did it that fast! I rested and got my breathing under control for a minute, then tried again. This time I did it in about 1:37, and I just had one more to do after another good rest. My last one ended right at 1:40 so I did it! I was excited to tell Pete about it when I got home and took him to work. On the drive there I downed the whole protein shake that he brought out for me. My arms were feeling pretty tired too.

I was very happy to be able to take an hour-long nap while Elle took hers. It's usually really hard for me to nap, but I didn't have a problem today.
